From Burns Night to Bonbons

This assortment began as a beloved annual tradition in Walpole, NH, the charming New England village where all our chocolates are handmade. It began with a Burns Night supper honoring the great poet Robert Burns, along with Scottish fare, and poetry readings with each course. All accompanied by a wee dram of Scotch whisky. L.A. Burdick provided the chocolates for the evening: after a slice of rich Dundee cake, Lagavulin truffles were served. Our head chocolatier, Michael Klug, a whisky lover, was captivated by how this spirit melds with the richness of chocolate. A single truffle was not enough; Scotch whisky needed an entire assortment box. In 2008, this beautifully balanced celebration of the peaty, briny, citrus, woody notes of Scotch and the depth, richness, and sumptuousness of chocolate began. Lagavulin is joined by Talisker, Balvenie, Laphroaig, to name only a few. Each bonbon an individual exploration of the blending of chocolate and Scotch, from the expertly crafted whisky ganaches to the delicate hand-piped chocolate cross emulating the Scottish flag.
