Pastry assistant

L.A. Burdick Chocolates is now interviewing for a Pastry Assistant to join our team. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join a motivated and professional pastry team at our Walpole location

Reports to:  Head Chocolatier/Pastry Manager

Job Summary:
  • 40 Hrs/full time - non-Exempt (hourly)
  • Rate of pay: $14.-
  • Benefits: Health insurance; 401 K program; competitive PTO time;
  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 Am- 3:00 Pm
  • Production viennoiserie (Croissants, Danish, savory breakfast items); Production of European style cakes and pastries, macaroons and some traditional American pastries
  • Confectionary production
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge and skills of pastry
  • Ability to work occasionally independent,
  • Commitment to precision
  • Multitasking of complex production projects
  • Flexibility to work long hours during seasonal peaks (especially Christmas season mid Nov-Dec 24th)
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor degree in pastry or cooking (either from a culinary institute or from an international apprentice program) or
  • At least 1 year of experience in a pastry shop/ restaurant or Hotel with a pastry department
Physical Requirements:
  • Comfortable standing all the time during work hours
  • Ability to lift 50#
