Nestled in the bountiful Connecticut River Valley, the Walpole Grocery is a small specialty store actively striving to support the local economy by working hand-in-hand with area farmers and other artisan producers to make good, clean food accessible. The store features a diverse selection of locally sourced artisanal cheeses, meats and bakery items, as well as a constantly changing seasonal array of organic fruits and vegetables.

At the butcher counter, house-made charcuterie is de rigueur, along with freshly made sausages and cutting done to order. Seafood is sourced as close to home as possible, with an emphasis on wild catches and sustainable practices. Elsewhere, the grocery’s flair for the international is apparent in its variety of  European cheeses, broad range of ethnic ingredients, and growing collection of hand-selected wines and craft beers.

Our staff is friendly, knowledgeable and approachable, with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. We look forward to assisting you in procuring exceptional food that has been carefully and conscientiously produced.

CHEESE: There is wonderful new cheese at WG! Try Plymouth’s Red, White & Blue, organic and biodynamically produced Alpine selections, smoked feta from Maplebrook, and even some European, slow boat artisan choices you won’t likely find elsewhere.

WINE & BEER: Warmer weather means lighter wines! Stay tuned for the arrival of Portugal’s famous Vinho Verde, new Spanish vintages and more! In beer, the stouts and porters are making way for ryes and saisons. You won’t be disappointed by our carefully chosen selection of craft brews!

BUTCHER COUNTER: The local lamb has arrived, we’re making fresh rabbit and other sausages, and soon it will be time to fire up the grill for burgers and steaks! Watch for our house-made rubs and other seasonings to guarantee barbecuing success!

PREPARED FOODS: Spring brings thoughts of ... picnics! Browse our fresh daily selections of side salads, soups and sandwiches for a gourmet meal on the go! We also have wonderful pies, cakes, cookies and other baked goods perfect for a quick treat and elegant enough for a celebratory gathering.

DAIRY : You can still buy milk in glass bottles at WG, including raw milk from Flying Cloud Dairy and pasteurized from McNamara Dairy. Our eggs are fresh from Walpole Valley Farms, and the ice cream is made right here in town!

Something mysterious and magical accompanies the return of spring! In WG it’s a delight to anticipate the soon-to-come produce, which will range from artichokes and asparagus to tender greens, fiddleheads and wild mushrooms. Similarly, at the butcher counter chops, steaks and burgers are slowly taking the places of heavier cuts in readiness for grilling weather. There’s a discernible air of joyful anticipation at the thought of a flute of Champagne drunk out under the budding trees. And we always look forward to the fresh, new cheeses that soon follow the arrival of the season’s lambs and kids. We are eager to share the bounty with you, and look forward to your visit!
